Tosca at Met Opera

The Met has replaced Luc Bondy‘s controverial 2009 Tosca with a new production by Sir David McVicar. Bondy’s production, which replaced Zeffirelli’s 1985 version, was honest, direct and beautiful. McVicar’s new production features two rockstar sopranos in Sonya Yoncheva and Anna Netrebko. Tenor superstar Vittorio Grigolo, and Marcelo Álvarez sing Cavaradossi. Joining are Sir Bryn Terfel, Michael Volle and Željko Lučić join as does Patrick Carfizzi. Young soprano Jennifer Rowley, who made her Met debut last season in Cyrano,  sings the title role in January.
