Boston Symphony Orchestra Summer Season at Tanglewood
New Yorkers love getting out of the city in the summer, and there is no better destination than The Berkshires and the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The Tanglewood grounds, on the edge of the New England-charmer Lenox Massachusetts, are as beautiful as the music you’ll hear, and there is nothing better than a picnic dinner under the stars accompanied by one of the countries great orchestras. Tanglewood attracts the worlds leading soloists and music superstars, and this summer is no exception. The season opens on July 3rd and 4th with James Taylor. Other season guests include regulars and newcomers: Renée Flemming, Garrison Ohlsson, Chanticleer, The Emerson String Quartet, Keith Lockhart, Thomas Hampson, Joshua Bell, Dawn Upshaw, Paul Lewis, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Thomas Rolfs, John Williams, Augustin Hadelich, Lars Vogt, Examuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos, Yo-Yo Ma, Jeremy Denk, Elena Manistina, Stephanie Blythe, Bramwell Tovey, Nikolai Lugansky, Kirill Gerstein, and Tony Bennett. Don’t miss the 2014 Festival of Contemporary Music (July 17 – July 21) and the many performances by artists at the Boston University Institute in residence at Tanglewood throughout the summer.
